Roses

{spoken by child:} everybody listen

love is all around
feel it in the breeze
summer’s coming round
dressing up the trees
and it makes me feel alright
watching all the signs of passing time
seasons going round
digging in their heels

open up your arms to the passing time
clear yourself a path you can leave behind
leave a lot of love in each heart you find
open up your heart to the passing time

roses in the ground
[brighten] up the fields with summer light
showers falling down {ah-ah-ah-ah}
all is as it seems
if it makes you feel alright
don’t regret a thing you leave behind
love is growing wild
out in summer fields

open up your arms to the passing time
clear yourself a path you can leave behind
leave a lot of love in each heart you find
open up your heart to the passing time

open up your arms to the passing time
clear yourself a path you can leave behind
leave a lot of love in each heart you find
open up your heart
open up your heart

– whistle with tune
[child’s squeal of delight]

open up your arms to the passing time
clear yourself a path you can leave behind
leave a lot of love in each heart you find
open up your heart to the passing time

open up your arms to the passing time
clear yourself a path you can leave behind
leave a lot of love in each heart you find
open up your heart to the passing time
open up your heart

– whistle with tune
mm-hmm
open up your heart
ah-yeah-yeah-yeah-ooh
open up your heart

{spoken by child:} fly away… they’re flying away

commentary
compared with the ‘simpler’ arrangement included on the limited-release version of the Love is the way album, this recording has: the presence of an intro and outro with the child speaking; the child chuckling after the first solo; the instrumental passages feature the whistle instead of a low guitar; there are much denser, multi-tracked, backing vocals; and the closing chord is repeated and held by whistles (under the outro);
all in all, this seems to be a different recording to the other version, not just a remix of the same track
