lyrics

Ontario

amethyst found Thunder Bay
molten born to paperweight
a package found its way here today
all the way from Ontario

so we go about our lives
under other London skies
Christmas calls, postcard replies
all the way from Ontario

and the lights are shining
around this harbour
and the lights are shining
around this harbour

do I miss you? yes I do
cautious eyes of Irish blue
you went away to be someone new
all the way to Ontario

– fiddle with tune

and the lights are shining
around this harbour
and the lights are shining
around this harbour

amethyst found Thunder Bay
there are those who cannot stay
I’ll come and visit you there one day
all the way to Ontario
all the way to Ontario
all the way to Ontario

– fiddle with tune

explanations

Thunder Bay is a city on the north side of Lake Superior; the reference to London is explained by the presence in the same Canadian province of Ontario of a city called London, named after the capital city of the UK: it is, however, at the other end of the enormous province to Thunder Bay (about 900 km in a straight line across Lake Superior and Lake Huron)

Eddi has changed the second line of the third verse from Boo’s original ‘cautious eyes, deep iris blue’ (see the lyrics on Boo’s website)
