notes
is this unusual among Eddi’s albums in having a specially selected sampler CD instead of the full album, or were the earlier promos, which I’ve never tracked down, also selections?

you can read the press release for this album – I’m not sure whether it was sent out with the promo CD, but that would seem a fair assumption

commentary
When time eventually came for the USA release of this title, Eddi took the opportunity to revise the track listing to create a more focussed album. The camp film theme-song ‘Town without pity’ was dropped from the selection and three other tracks, which had been issued as b-sides in UK, were added: ‘Sugar on the pill’, ‘Shall I be mother’ and ‘If you got a minute, baby’; (the last a cover of an old Freddy and the Dreamers’ number). The new selection was re-sequenced to give, in my opinion, a much more cohesive and satisfying album, still centered around the twin themes of the title – the enfolding sweetness and the restorative drugginess of love (and other things?) – but much more focussed and with better cross-relationships between the individual elements and tracks.

Also, the American version doesn’t suffer from having the corporate logo and copyright information actually over the front cover illustration!

Eddi described this later version as: “…a different album … more me…”.
